I love it when things make my life easier. I create many web sites for my business and doing them the old fashioned way with HTML, CSS, Javascript, etc., was a laborious and time consuming task. I spent a good portion of my day on programming the web sites. Other areas, such as marketing or content were suffering. This until I got my hands on a copy of Serif's WebPlus X2.

The name is a bit quirky but don't let that prevent you from trying this product out. You pick a template, put it some content and then upload the site. It's truly as simple as that. If you don't find a template you like you are free to create your own. WebPlus X2 using a master page concept that essentially is the template for your site. And you can have multiple master pages too. So when you set up a master page, any web page that you create that points to the master page will take on the properties of that master page. This means that you can keep your titles, headings and menus all consistent (or whatever you put on the master page) from page to page.

To accomplish no programming web design you need a tool that is intuitive. WebPlus X2 is such a tool. The software is easy to use and is truly WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get). You place objects such as images or videos and in the position that you want and it creates the object there for you. If you've ever tinkered with HTML you know what a hassle it can be to get objects where you want them. Not so with WebPlus X2.

The absolute best part of WebPlus X2 is the ability to do no programming web design. You will not have to learn complicated languages like HTML or CSS but you will have the capability to create professional looking designs. If you want to add audio, video, or other types of media it is very simply done with WebPlus X2. It even has the ability to easily add ecommerce features as well.

After you are happy with your design, WebPlus X2 gives you the ability to upload it to your site directly. It will even keep track of the changes so that you are not uploaded every file each time you make a change. It automatically detects what has changes and only sends that up. Of course, you have the flexibility of sending the entire site up again if you feel it necessary.

Some of the not-so-great aspects of the software are that the templates are not particularly geared for the kinds of sites that I create but that doesn't mean that won't be the same case for you. Also, I really would have liked to have many more templates included with the software even if I had to pay extra. I would even accept a third party site that is dedicated to WebPlus X2 templates. I'd gladly pay for templates if the price was reasonable and they looked professional. But hey, this could be a good business idea if you try the package and are good at designing templates (hint, hint LOL!).

Overall, if you are responsible for the development of multiple sites, you owe it to yourself to try Serif's WebPlus X2. They allow you to download it for free (although there are some restrictions that go away when you purchase). But the free download will help decide if the package is worth having in your web design arsenal. I now use it as my sole web site building tool.
